District 1 has a population of 9,151 and an area of 28 square kilometres.

It includes the:

• community of Sydney Mines;
• neighbourhood of Tobin Road in the community of North Sydney (the neighbourhood of Tobin Road includes the public street/road named Tobin Road eastward from its intersection with the Trans Canada Highway); and
• communities of Florence, Little Pond, and Alder Point.
