
Shared Dwelling Licence
Property owners or operators who rent individual rooms in a shared dwelling within CBRM must obtain a Shared Dwelling Licence. This licence outlines operator responsibilities, sets safety and operating requirements, ensures annual inspections and provides tools to address non-compliance.

Fees
- The application fee is $200.
- If the dwelling has more than four sleeping rooms, an additional $50 per extra room applies.
- Licences are valid for one year. Renewal is required within 30 days of expiry.
- The renewal fee is $100, plus $25 per extra room for dwellings with more than four sleeping rooms.
Application Requirements
- Completed Application for a Shared Dwelling Licence (PDF, 124 KB)
- Proof of liability insurance for the proposed use
- A copy of the CBRM-issued occupancy permit
- A copy of an approved development permit. See New Home & Home Improvements Permits for more details
- A copy of the labelled floor plan of the dwelling
Completed application, along with payment, can be submitted in person at the Citizen Service Centre (320 Esplanade, Sydney).
