Emergency Accommodations

Comfort centres provide a safe space for residents to gather during emergencies, charge devices and receive refreshments. They do not provide overnight shelter or shower facilities. For safety reasons, centres open only after the immediate impact of an event has passed, ensuring it is safe for volunteers and residents to travel.

Residents are encouraged to maintain a minimum of 72 hours of personal emergency preparedness and to plan for longer durations during severe weather events, such as hurricanes.

Opening times, locations and dates depend on volunteer availability and areas with the greatest need. Updates will be shared through local media, CBRM's Facebook page or Emergency Alert messages when telecommunications are disrupted.

Additional CBRM facilities may be activated to support comfort centres depending on utility availability. All public health requirements must be followed at each location.
